How It Works -Self-Publishing

When you decide to self-publish, you do not get the expertise of the publisher’s editors to help put the finishing touches on your work. Working with an editing/proofreading company can fix mistakes which may make your book less appealing to your audience.

Figuring Out the Scope of Work

Timeline

Administrative Activities

A very important part happens before anything is exchanged to be edited. Having a consultation where details can be ironed out is needed because everyone must be clear on what is being completed and how much time is needed. By working towards the same goals, the end result is much easier to achieve.

Step 02

Editing and Proofreading

Editors/Proofreaders go over text

Make notes on their suggestions

Once the scope of the project has been cleared up, our talented editors and proofreaders can begin their work. The turn-around time will depend on the scope of the project.

Step 03

Return of Comments

Our editors and proofreaders send you a copy of their comments for you to review and decide whether you would like to implement their suggestions. The reason we provide suggestions is to allow you to read over the comments and decide whether our suggestions are what you are saying. For example, if you write “the cat roamed by the building”, but we leave a comment of “roared?”, it will be up to you to decide whether our comment makes sense in terms of what you are trying to say.
